Could anyone give me suggestions for 'everything dies' please? i beat it, however i cannot beat it with no enemies escaping, i lose a life around wave 33. Thanks!

Did you save up a snowflake and freeze them at the right time?

Actually, I just spent an hour playing this level. It is very hard... and I don't remember how I did it before. I actually won a gold medal on every level during testing. So I know it is possible.

When I get time, I'll play it some more. Maybe my strategy will come back to me.

thanks...also i looked at the specs of the towers you posted a while back and saw that the arrow tower was the most cost effective tower-you can beat all the levels getting a gold medal with just arrow towers and sometimes having to use the objective towers. just a random did you know :)

I can't beat the Steel Plated level. Any tips? I use lots of Earth/Poison/Lightning towers.

make a maze to the lower right and block of the top left so they all have to go through one area...lots of lvl 4-5 lightning and lvl 5-6 earth; if they are going to get to the end of ur maze, sell one of the top left towers and block off the current path, this will send the enemies to the top, once they are almost there, sell the lower blocking tower and build another to block the path, this should get you through it; i think that is how i beat it

I'm sorrry for repepating the question concearning the level steel plated, but still, aren't there another strategy of winning except making a maze and keep buying and selling towers??? Did anybody pass it and have real working strategy?

um lots of fire towers have 1-2 at the each entrance at lvl 4-5-6 and 1 earth at each entrance at lvl 4-5 as well as the 2 main corners (the area in the middle which all three paths meet) um...the hit points get larger around round 30 so make sure you have the 10 lvl 6 towers .. also try to keep 250 gold as much as possible (to receive max interest) write back if you need more help and i will play the lvl again to give an exact walkthrough...(most lvls up to the final 2 can be done with arrow or fire towers only as they are the most cost effective

First let me say I am a casual gamer and I love Besiegement, but for me, starting with the Heavy Metal levels in story mode and to be honest even the easy ones in the other mode, the difficulty seems to be off the charts. Again, I am a casual gamer, but is there any future plans of having easy/normal/hard difficulty levels?
Thanks and this game is the best TD game on the iPhone and I enjoy it, but I am at the point where I don't want to play it as I am getting overrun very early in these later levels.
    Thanks.

I'm interested in hearing more about how you used Windows to develop this app.
  2.
Yes. Heavy Metal/Steel Plated will be nerfed some. There are two hard waves near the beginning that tend to overlap. They will be split apart more, and possibly hitpoint nerfed. You can use the walk-through I posted on youtube to make it easier to win.

The next couple of levels are a bit easier. But then it does get hard again... (as all games do.) Therefore I *do* plan on adding easy and hard modes. Easy will probably be 75% scoring, and hard will be 125% scoring. Either that or separate score lists.
  3.
About developing on Windows... the iPhone uses OpenGL which is basically the same on all computers. I created a shell program that held the game-logic classes. The shell program simulated some iPhone features like sleep, touches, and events. These are passed to the game logic. I can then use the same game logic with a different "shell" for the iPhone, and it compiles with no changes.

This obviously wouldn't work with a real iPhone application that used Cocoa Touch. But for a game it is perfect.

I did this for a number of reasons. But the foremost would be that I hated... no, *despised* the Mac keyboard, and how the xcode editor felt alien. It was too hard to switch between Visual Studio at work (I've used this since QuickBASIC in the DOS days) and the Mac environment. I was also forced to use two monitors because the Mac Mini wouldn't drive my 30" Dell monitor and my neck killed me after a few minutes.

You can rest assured I'm not the first to do this. I'm sure quite a few of the commercial games (Monkey Ball?) were created mainly on another platform and then ported over. I'm just the first to talk about the process.

Sorry I am posting this here, but there's no pm feature, and you have no e-mail address listed.

Anyways, hello. My name is Logan and I review games for www.ipwngames.com. I would like to review your game for our site, as it seems to have very in-depth gameplay, but also doesn't seem to get much critical exposure. As TDs are some of my favorite games, and considering the huge success of Fieldrunners I find this to be a great injustice. If you are interested I would very much appreciate it if you would e-mail me at gammatigerx@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Chad, fabulous game. As a developer myself, I admire a great game like this, and I love to support other professionals.

One thing I would love to see, is a basic game mechanics guide...mostly it's the various tower abilities I would like to be able to see a chart of. This is without question the most in depth iphone TD game, and the tower variation makes a guide very useful...as opposed to like fieldrunners, where there is really nothing to say.

    Thanks!
    Zai

I know... I've been very busy. It is on my plan to do eventually. The tower abilities will change a little for the update, and I was going to do it then. Maybe I'll do it sooner. Of course, if someone wanted to create the HTML and rough abilities for me, that would be even better. I could fill in the details and make sure they were accurate.

A statistical list (directly from my working spreadsheet) is posted somewhere on the site. Check the older blog entries.

hello could someone make a list of all the achievements you have to get.
I tried a couple of them like 10 poison towers, it just did not add to my achievements,
when i know that one of the achievements is build 10 earth towers in one game
I don't have enough with the hint "build poison towers"...
so if someone could post the list of all the achievements, that would be great.

Awesome game by the way! Keep up the good work!

i wont tell you them exactly, but i will give hints to the ones you cant get...as to poison you need to build a lot over the course of the whole game (it is not build x in one game)

hey charles, for wind, build a few wind towers in a game and upgrade them. for the collect gold, just collect a lot of gold in one game. sorry but I won't tell you specifics, as you are supposed to figure em out by yourself.

oh and a hint for people who are finding themselves stuck on a particular level:

try the maze if you are doing the path based.

try the path if you are doing maze based.

then when you finish the game (or whenever you want) go back to that level.
    oh, and earth towers own.

Is anyone else completely crushed by the "Swarm" challenge? I've tried every strat I can think of...

I start with an arrow and an electric, then add 1 earth next wave, then upgrade, more earth, etc.

I've started with a fire and an electric, a fire and a fire... i've probably played this level about 50 times, and I've never got past wave 6. The upgrade costs on a earth toware are jst too high, and there's too many of them for me to survive without a lot of earth towers.

    Am I missing something?
  6.
The Swarm level is all about area of effect... but you have to use arrow towers to keep the enemies contained. Use the arrow towers to build paths that circle your main towers. For instance, keep the enemies on all 4 sides of an earth tower by surrounding the earth tower with arrow towers.

Also, as soon as possible, combine the two paths into one. Again, use arrow towers to merge the two sides.

It has been a while since I played that level, but I don't remember it being extremely tough. btw, Every level except the "Hard Maze" and "Hard Path" levels are possible. Those two were really meant to see if anyone could beat them... which no one has (according to the high scores).

ok whatever. wind requires 6 wind towers at level 6.

for the swarm level, funnel them with arrow towers into one winding death zone. keep in mind, earth towers own, but the damage decreases with each additional mob. what this means is one level 6 earth tower won't kill everything.

And once u get to swarm/lvl 7? I don't even hurt the monsters- what the heck? I have tried every tower. And no damage at all.... Is this an issue!? Or is there a trick?

scoring.. is a little complicated. a detailed explanation is posted in the comments on one of the posts on the blog.

    here's the basic rundown:

you get 25 points for every gold (piece) you have left.

you get 100 points for killing a normal mob, 250 for a captain, 500 for a boss.

5 shots (only occurs with fire and earth towers) are worth 50 points.

5000 points for each completed objective

lives are worth a bit of points each, but I don't remember how much.

    selling towers subtracts 100 points.

there's some more minute details but those are the basics.

swarm wave seven is definitely able to be defeated just hard. they are elementals, which means they are way tough and invincible to some types of towers.

    good luck.

Wow! That was a fast response! Thank u so much! =) this IS the best td game I've ever played! Thank you! Thank you!
  7.
Thanks Shalaka for helping our guests. I was busy working on the Fire tower (which I'm about to post).

One very important note about scoring, and the best way to make the top score lists:

When you "rush" a wave by tapping the incoming bar, you get points for the time remaining before the next wave. If you are sure your defenses will hold up to multiple waves, then rush the next wave (or next 2, next 3, whatever...) You can only rush a wave every five seconds in game time (normal speed).

no problem. thank you for helping me. and for the game of course. yeah thanks sorry I forgot to mention that. rushing is definitely needed to get in the top five scores. keep in mind that earth towers can't handle too many mobs. yes this really is the best td.

    Hi guys,

I am stuck with two achievements here, 'Win a game... barely' and 'Win without losing a life' .. can anyone give me any hints about these ones? I dont really want the full answer, just a shove in the right direction :)

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

You must have a certain number of lives left for the "Win a game... barely".
You must win a certain number of games in a row for "Win without losing a life".

Any suggestions on beating the elemental level? Ive been stuck on it for a few days now and using a ton of arrow towers seems to work the best but I still get destroyed when the huge wave of earth elemental come through.

Oh, and awesome game, it's my favorite game (out of 8 pages-LOL!)

have you tried the maze elemental level? I found that one easier than the path based. it is quite hard though. the earth elementals are very tough. and you do know that the elementals are invincible to their respective elements, right?

I'm having trouble with the regular Path based challenge (not the easy or hard one, the middle one). I can't seem to get past the first few levels as I never have enough money to build powerful enough towers or upgrade them in time. I always get overrun.

Any suggestions for this round please?
  9.
Earth and electricity. Both are really overpowered. The normal difficulty challenge is definitely possible. But it has been a very long time since I played so I don't remember the details. The hard difficulty is actually impossible in the current release (the maze version is possible but very very hard). I know this because of the high score lists.

Or wait until the update. I've nerfed this level slightly and boosted a few towers.

    Hi!

Can I get some tips on the last maze based game in the story mode - the one that asks for 2 wind towers to be built. I've finished all rounds but this one and it truly has me stumped. Been playing for over a week and can't get past the first few rounds.

    Thank you in advance!
